Yobe Govt approves 297 million for iftar feeding, targeting 51,000 vulnerable people daily.

As part of the Ramadan Iftar Feeding Programme, the Yobe State Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation has commenced the distribution of food items to one hundred and two designated centres across the state targeting over fifty-one thousand people daily.

The commissioner of the ministry, Alhaji Yusuf Umar Potiskum, while briefing journalists, said the iftar feeding is part of efforts to support less privileged people during the holy month of Ramadan.

Represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Yusuf Hassan Yusuf, the commissioner said the government has approved two hundred and ninety-seven million naira for the 2025 Ramadan Iftar feeding programme across the seventeen local government areas of the state.

Yusuf Umar Potiskum charged the committee to liaise with traditional and religious leaders in their various centres for proper utilisation of the food items  with aimed at reaching out to five hundred people per centre

According to him government has also provided money for transportation of the food items to the designated centres.

The commissioner further added that this year, the iftar centres were increased to one hundred and two against the previous eighty-six centres, pointing out that apart from food items, thirty thousand naira was allocated to each feeding centre daily.

The commissioner used the medium and Commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for giving all the necessary support to the ministry to discharge its responsibilities effectively.
