PLANE Quarterly Review Meeting: Jigawa Makes Strides in Education, Despite Challenges.

The Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) has organized a Quarterly Program Review Meeting in Jigawa state, bringing together stakeholders to discuss progress, achievements, and challenges in the education sector.
The meeting which hold at M-Town Hotels Dutse, on Thursday 13th March 2025, highlighted several notable achievements, including a 3% increase in the education budget by the Jigawa State government in 2025.
The state team lead, Mustapha B. Ahmad said this increase has enabled some Local Government Areas (LGAs) to provide additional support to schools, recruiting teachers and supplying writing materials.
According to him, other achievements include: Enhanced Teacher Training: SUBEB commenced FLN Scale-up, training 1,540 teachers and 924 head-teachers and SSOs on foundational Literacy and Numeracy. "Capacity of 81 LGEA EMIS officers was strengthened on data management systems using Survey CTO, and Safe School Committee was inaugurated, and Safe School Rapid Response Center was established and commissioned" he stated.
One of the PLANE staff also a facilitator Mr. Akeem Odewale attributed that despite these achievements, key challenges has been identified, which include low pupils and teachers' attendance due to high cost of living, Low school monitoring visits, with coverage below 50%, and Weak coordination among development partners on support provided to the state on education.
Odewale said to address these challenges, PLANE provided training on communication, and the education sector expects proper utilization of existing communication outlets, production of internal newsletters, and re-activation of social media platforms.
Participants in the meeting, Kaila Muhammad and Babawuro Pate attributed that with the educational policies that the state have all challenges will be a history soon. They commended PLANE for their tireless efforts towards ensuring that education is safe in Jigawa state.
As PLANE continues to work with stakeholders to improve education outcomes in Jigawa State, the organization remains committed to strengthening system sustainability and addressing the challenges facing the education sector.
