UNICEF-NTA Bauchi sensitize adolescent girls on Good menstrual hygiene

The united nations children's fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with the Nigerian Television Authority Bauchi, has sensitized adolescent girls in Daben Kasuwa of Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi state on Good menstrual hygiene practices.

Skylink News reports that the sensitization is part of activities to celebrating this year's 2025 international women's day with the theme "Accelerate Action" which calls for a new focus on driving gender equality and empowering women.
inadequate awareness for adolescent girls before their first menstrual Period is one of the challenges face by girls child, affecting their, education, social and imposed stigmatization.

it is against this backdrop that unicef Bauchi office with NTA Bauchi partnering for progress organized this campaign to educate  adolescent girls on how they can effectively manage their menstrual circle in a hygienic environment. 
               
Resource person Khadija Adamu Abdullahi from ATBUTH identified body pain, fullness of breast among others as some of the symptoms to pre menstrual Period for adolescent girls.
              
both women and adolescent girls in the area were encourage on the usage of either locally made pad from rag or sanitary pad before going for public gathering to avoid public embracement and stigmatization.
                 
frequent taking of fluid, fish, vegetables nutritious food as well as early track of menstrual Period are some of the things recommended for women and adolescent girls especially during their menstrual Period.
