From Abubakar Muhammad, Bauchi

The Bauchi State Government has acknowledged the decision of the Bauchi Emirate Council's Committee on Sallah Durbar to postpone this year's Durbar Festival. According to the government, this decision was made by the Emirate Council without prior consultation.

The Sallah Durbar festival is a significant cultural event in Bauchi State, symbolizing unity, history, and identity. It attracts visitors and tourists from across Nigeria and beyond, contributing to the state's social and economic vibrancy.

Despite extensive security and logistical preparations by the state government, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has reluctantly approved the Emirate Council's request to postpone the festival, citing respect for the traditional institution and its leadership.

The government regrets any inconvenience caused by the last-minute postponement and assures that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such abrupt changes in the future.

Governor Mohammed extended his heartfelt Sallah greetings to the Emir of Bauchi, the Bauchi Emirate Council, and the people of Bauchi State, wishing them a joyous and peaceful Sallah celebration.
