Yobe Family Planning's media team - stakeholders sets to end preventable deaths.

The family planning media advocacy called for increased engagement with stakeholders cut across traditional, religious and community leaders to further make inroads in the advocacy for the citizens to be aware and fully embrace safe childbirth spacing practices in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued and Signed by the team's Public Relations officer, Ahmed Isah Abba, and made available to newsmen in Damaturu.

The statement said leveraging on this year's theme on safe motherhood, the advocacy team is urging stakeholders to prioritize women's long-term well-being.

According to the statement, Safe Motherhood Day was set aside by the World Health Organisation WHO on the 11th of April every year to advocate for more funding and create awareness of women's health conditions.

The statement added that Yobe State, working closely with The Challenge Initiative TCI, is enhancing safe practices in childbirth spacing with indicators pointing to increased acceptability of family planning even among the rural women who were encouraged by the availability of consumables at various health facilities.

The statement further said the day was celebrated as Safe Motherhood Day, meant to provide opportunities for women to receive the care needed to be safe and healthy throughout the pregnancy and childbirth period, including antenatal, newborn, postnatal and mental healthcare.

Yobe State Family Planning Advocacy's media team praises the giant strides recorded by the state government in primary, secondary and tertiary health systems for providing an enabling environment that improves health indicators across the board.

The statement by the PRO on behalf of the chairman, Mustapha Yusuf Musa, indicates partnerships with the national and international non-governmental organisations, including the Challenge Initiative, have helped in accelerating positive health indicators in family planning, maternal, neonatal and newborn, among others.
