Jigawa health team awarded during HelpMum capacity building in Lagos

Jigawa state health officials received an award of excellence during the capacity building workshop of 7 states on social media campaign, using Vax Ai for vaccine promotion.
The two days capacity building Organized by HelpMum, with support from GAVI and Meta was held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, between Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th 2025, aimed at designing social media campaigns to improve vaccination uptake.
Jigawa State have been represented by the ES SPHCDA Dr. Shehu Sambo, Director Family Health Dr. Abubakar Sa'id Kanya, Director PHC Alhaji Hassan Shua'aibu Kwalam and a media consultant Ali Rabiu Ali, in the workshop on using cutting-edge technology, social media engagements and harnessing on AI through breaking social and behavioral barriers and optimizing enablers to improve Maternal and Child Health services uptake and outcomes in our communities.
The program which is in collaboration with Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) drawn the attention of the participants on how to attract the audience in social media campaign on vaccine promotion.
The executive secretary Jigawa state healthcare development agency (JSPHCDA) Dr. Shehu Sambo, said the workshop was designed to be able to intimate seven states on the use of social media and artificial intelligent in rebumping immunization uptake across the states.
" The workshop was very success because we have seen various opportunities using social media handles, different ways in which we can actually leverage on social media handles to be able to pass messages on relevant vaccines across our various target groups" Dr. Sambo stated.
The executive secretary said Jigawa state is more concern about the low uptake of the human papiloma virus vaccine (HPV).
Dr. Sambo then said HelpMum has done very well to help the states unlock this opportunity for them to look into. He said social media enlightenment is in his mind as the state Primary healthcare development agency is thinking of using a social media focal person in improving uptake of vaccine
Sabestian Solomon BIT Principal thanks the participants for their hard working toward understanding the subject matter. He said by applying the social behavioral insights support (BIT) through the promotion of vaccination in Nigeria.
Sebastian said they would understand the various ways to accessing the vaccination in terms of people capability, opportunity, and innovations to be able to vaccinate.
Dr. Abiodun Adereni, founder and the chief executive officer HelpMun, said the objectives of the event is to build the capacity of the state health officials from seven state that have low uptake of immunization. To also develop effective social media strategies to improve immunization uptake.
Dr. Aderene said the states are Jigawa, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Imo, Katsina, Oyo, and Osun. He said the programme is funded by Meta, HelpMum, and GAVI.
