Unlocking Education Potential: Jigawa State Eyes e-PPP Policy

Jigawa State is poised to revolutionize its education sector through a proposed Education Public Private Partnership (e-PPP) policy. The initiative, championed by Tasi'u Abubakar Shabaru, Chairman of the Public Private Partnership Forum, aims to attract private sector investment and expertise to improve educational outcomes.
This Initiative which was sponsored by Partnership For Learning for All In Nigeria (PLANE) was designed to assist the state government in addressing the challenges affecting the basic education sector not only in Jigawa but across some states in Nigeria.
The 2 days workshop was held at M-twon and suite hotel, Dutse on wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th 2025 had in attendance various partners of private school's owners, government officials, Media, PLANE staff among others.
Secretary of the PPP Forum Malam Abduldakadir Kaila said the e-PPP policy would enable Jigawa State to tap into the private sector's innovative approaches, technologies, and management practices.
Kaila said this collaboration could lead to inhanced educational facilities and infrastructure, improved learning materials and technology, introduction of new teaching methods and practices and better monitoring and supervision.
In his part, chairman of the PPP Forum Malam Tasi'u Abubakar Shabaru said despite budget allocations, Jigawa State's public education system faces numerous challenges. The e-PPP policy would provide a strategic direction for the education sector, ensuring students have access to safe and conducive learning environments.
Tasi'u said effective stakeholder engagement is crucial for the success of e-PPP initiatives. A multi-faceted approach that builds trust, communicates effectively, and collaborates strategically would be essential in implementing the policy.
According to Shabaru, by developing an e-PPP policy, Jigawa State can unlock new opportunities for collaboration and investment in education. This initiative has the potential to improve the quality of education and outcomes for students, ultimately driving progress and development in the state.
