Yobe Gov't Boosts Secondary School Welfare, Distributes Cooking Pots, others

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector, the Yobe State Government has distributed 200 cooking pots and 200 food collars to senior secondary schools across the state.
The intervention facilitated by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education aimed at enhancing student welfare and promoting a conducive learning environment.
The distribution ceremony, which took place recently, was attended by key stakeholders in the education sector with the Hon Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Assoc. Prof. Abba Idris Adam was represented by the Director of School Services, Alhaji Bukar Modu.
Speaking at the event, the commissioner described the initiative as a demonstration of the state government’s under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni unwavering commitment to revitalising education sector.
He said the provision of cooking items was part of broader efforts to support schools and encourage students to remain focused on their studies.
“This gesture will help improve the welfare of students and reduce burdens faced by school management, especially in boarding schools he added.
“It is one of many ways the state government is ensuring that students have a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment.”
Receiving the items on behalf of her school, the Principal of Government Girls Unity College Damaturu, Hajiya Ladi Ghali, commended the state government for the timely support.
She said the donation would go a long way in assisting students, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, and less privileged pupils saying school’s continued commitment to academic excellence.
The distribution is part of a wider set of reforms and interventions being implemented by the Buni-led administration to reposition education as a priority for sustainable development in Yobe State.
