The Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Peter Maduama, has called on stakeholders in Jigawa State to support the implementation of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).
The call was made on Thursday during a significant Town Hall Meeting held in Dutse, Jigawa state capital with the stakeholders.
The meeting focused on Institutional strengthening and sustainability engagement on the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) and the ACJL Regime.
Mr Maduama emphasized the importance of collective commitment to advancing justice sector reforms and ensuring the sustainability of the remarkable gains made in strengthening the criminal justice system in Nigeria.
He said over the past two years, the CLEEN Foundation has collaborated with critical stakeholders across eight states to promote the effective implementation of the ACJA/ACJL.
He regretted that despite successes in advocacy, capacity building, policy reforms, and multi-stakeholder engagements, challenges persist.
Adding that these challenges include ensuring consistent application, adequate training, and sustainable monitoring mechanisms for justice sector reforms.
Maduama stressed the need for deeper institutional strengthening, broader stakeholder coordination, and long-term commitment to sustaining these reforms.
He noted that the meeting's agenda was designed to equip civil society organizations, legal professionals, law enforcement agencies, and other critical actors with the necessary tools, knowledge, and collaborative frameworks.
He urged participants to actively engage in discussions, exchange insights, and contribute to shaping actionable recommendations.
According to him these recommendations will strengthen justice sector oversight and enhance the sustainability of the ACJA/ACJL regime.
He therefore expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders present, acknowledging their dedication to justice sector reform.
In view of this, he emphasized the importance of collective effort in advancing justice sector reforms and ensuring the sustainability of the gains made in strengthening the criminal justice system in Nigeria.
