In a bold move to bridge the gap between the government and its citizens, Jigawa State has launched the "Gwamnati da Jama’a" program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.
The program, which was launched on Sunday in Auyo Local Government Area, brings together high-ranking government officials, lawmakers, and citizens to discuss ongoing projects, achievements, and concerns.
This interactive platform provides a unique opportunity for citizens to hold their leaders accountable, seek clarifications, and provide feedback on government policies and programs.
According to Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, the program is designed to keep citizens informed and involved in the governance process. "We want to create a culture of transparency and accountability, where citizens are empowered to participate in the decision-making process," he explained.
The launch event in Auyo Local Government Area was a resounding success, with hundreds of citizens in attendance.
The program featured presentations from commissioners, heads of parastatals, and lawmakers, who highlighted the government's achievements and ongoing efforts to deliver people-centered and developmental projects.
Citizens from various walks of life, including traders, transport workers, and community leaders, seized the opportunity to engage with government officials, asking questions, seeking clarifications, and providing feedback.
The event was characterized by lively discussions, debates, and exchanges, demonstrating the program's potential to foster a culture of transparency and accountability.
The "Gwamnati da Jama’a" program is scheduled to visit all 27 local government areas in the state, with three local governments to be visited every month. The goal is to complete the entire state by October 2025, ensuring widespread participation and a consistent flow of information across the state.
This innovative program has been hailed as a major breakthrough in transparency and accountability, setting a new standard for government-citizen engagement in Jigawa State. As the program rolls out across the state, citizens can expect to see a more responsive and accountable government, committed to delivering people-centered and developmental projects.
