Yobe Govt trained media producers on recovery and long-term development processes.

In continuation of building the capacity of its workforce, the Yobe state government organised a five-day training workshop for media producers and information officers on content creation and media management towards recovery and long-term development.

The participants, numbering one hundred and fifteen, were drawn from the state media organisations, information and social media influencers currently ongoing at the Grand Central Hotel in Kano.

The theme is “recovery and development through media excellence”.

It was declared open by the state commissioner of the Ministry of Home Affairs Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, underscores the role of media in post-insurgency recovery and fostering resilience across the state.

Bego commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his continued training and retraining of media practitioners for effective communication and long-term development agenda.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bego Said the workshop speaks to Governor Buni's commitment to giving opportunities to media operators and content creators across the state to excel in their daily operations.

According to him, media operators have roles to play in the recovery process of the state government, adding that there is a need to know where we are and where we are going in the recovery process.

The commissioner reiterated that Yobe, now in the era of a post-conflict crisis recovery process towards socioeconomic growth, commended MCRP for organising the training.

The commissioner highlighted the collaborative efforts to equip media practitioners with modern communication strategies by ensuring effective dissemination of information that fosters sustainable growth and development.

Bego charged the participants to pay rapt attention to the facilitators to be equipped with the necessary skills in development communication, content creation and media crisis management.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the state project coordinator, Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project MCRP Alhaji Idi Musa Jidawa, said the workshop was organised to effect change in the community affected by the conflict crisis through information and communication.

The project coordinator emphasised that the world is changing and there is no time to wait, pointing out that there is a need to galvanise the communication process towards the progress and development of the state.

He called on the participants to utilise the knowledge acquired during the training to move the state forward.

In his remarks, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, Sadig Yahaya, who was represented by the secretary of the committee, Musa Mai Saje, assured the readiness of the state House of Assembly to support effective communication flow in the state.

In their goodwill messages, the general managers of YBC, YTV, NTA, Sunshine FM and the executive director council for art and culture emphasised the importance of communication in changing the narratives.

They called on the participants to participate actively in the training process for more fruitful engagement.
